Cubing: The Rubik's Cube
I just recently started cubing last November 13, 2016. It was one Sunday afternoon, where I deactivated my facebook account and felt so boring that day and saw my student's rubik's cube(which I confiscated, hehehe) then I decided to learn how to solve it. Viewed some online tutorials on youtube and found one that is very helpful by TheSergsB(How to solve a 3x3x3 step by step tutorial). It took me roughly about 3 to 4 hours to be familiar with the methods from making the cross, to putting up the corners, then the second layer and finally finishing up the cube with the beginner's method. I fell in love with cubing and started to learn more types of cube: from 2x2x2, to 4x4x4 to 5x5x5. Then tried to do the Megaminx, too!! But I only focused with the 3x3x3. Was able to finish solving it in 5 minutes for my first official attempt after being familiar with the beginner's method. Then going further, as I mastered the beginner's method, my time gradually cut down to 3 minutes, 2 minutes, then finally under a minute in roughly a week or 2. Then I tried learning the advanced method, CFOP, one of the few and the most used method.
(C)ross, (F)irst2layers, (O)rienting of last layer, (P)ermutation of last layer. I'm not good in memorizing stuffs, so I only memorized a few of the OLL's and PLL's. I'm currently on my 5th month of cubing as of April 11, 2017. Enjoying it as a hobby, aiming up to speed up a little more but not much to aim for a National Record(currently at 6.36 seconds for the Philippines by Jay Benedict Alfaras), or even a World Record(currently at 4.73 seconds by Feliks Zemdegs). I'd love to make a tutorial on how to solve the rubik's cube, or at least to understand the CFOP method.
Are you a cuber, too? What's your PB and Ao5 for 3x3x3?
As of April 11, 2017.
PB: 17.71 seconds
Ao5: 22.34 seconds
Main cube: Moyu Weilong GTS
